Best of...2012

I would like to introduce again my best friend, Chelsea Gloria. Writing up another guest post!!

Best of Film, Television, & Music: 2012 Chelsea-style edition

Can I be honest? I'm a tad obsessive about this particular subject. Okay, if we ARE being honest *takes deep breath* obsessive is an understatement. Words can't describe how much I adore the entertainment industry. Even with it's rare flaws (Lindsay Lohan in Liz & Dick...sad but true), it continues to astound me each year. I simply just can't get enough of it. It's like oxygen, I simply can't live without it. Your probably thinking, "Well, that's dramatic, Chelsea." But it's oh so true! And I did say that I was going to be honest ;) 2012 was crammed full of clever, witty television shows; fantastically crafted films; and music that will continue to soothe my ears for years to come. 2012 was definitely a year to remember.
*My favorites in each category are in no particular order*

Best Film of 2012:

Django Unchained: HONORABLE MENTION
This made my top five films of all time. It's THAT good. With a stellar cast, and a story that will leave you thinking for days, this film is destined to be deemed as a classic. It's obvious a genius is at the reins: Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino constantly proves to me that he is one of the greatest, if not the greatest film maker to ever grace the film industry.
Les Miserables
Argo
James Bond: Skyfall
Moonrise Kingdom
Anna Karenina
The Avengers
The Master
Ted
Pitch Perfect
The Dark Knight Rises
Looper
Lawless

Best Television:  Some are not new to 2012, but never the less have had an outstanding year that is worth mentioning.

HBO's Girls*: HONORABLE MENTION
Yet another genius at the reins, Lena Dunham. She writes, directs, and produces Girls, and she is a mere 26 years old. Can I spend just one day in her shoes?!  I love Lena. Her in your face, sometimes uncomfortable writing makes it insanely easy for young adult women to relate to her situations within minutes of watching the show.

Mad Men
Parks & Rec
30 Rock
Louie
Pretty Little Liars
Saturday Night Live
The Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon
Smash *
New Girl
The Mindy Project *
The New Normal *
*premiered in 2012

Best Music: Albums/ Singles of 2012:

Lana Del Rey, Album: Born to Die: HONORABLE MENTION
I find often that Lana Del Rey is the girl people love to hate. You either die hard love her, or you rather hear nails on a chalkboard. Obviously, I worship Lana. I could listen to her every second of the day. Her effortless, laid back way of singing is something that separates her (in a fantastic way) from every other artist. I must say its just not her singing, it's her whole entire ora. From her full lips, and glossy, bouncy hair to her retro yet modern style...she's definitely made herself a standout. She describes  herself as a "gangsta Nancy Sinatra". I couldn't have said it better myself.

Les Miserables Motion Picture Soundtrack Album
Mumford & Son, Album: Babel
Florence & The Machine, Album: Ceremonials
Glee (Lea Michele), Being Good Isn't Good Enough
Quentin Tarantino's  Django Unchained Motion Picture Soundtrack Album
From the television show Smash, Let Me Be Your Star
The Lumineers, Album: The Lumineers
Sara Barellies, Song: Sweet as Whole
The Civil Wars, Song: Barton Hollow
Esperanza Spalding, Album: Radio Music Society
Rufus Wainwright, Album: Out of the Game
