Advice from the one who needs it...

So this is actually a guest post I did for Emily over at Newlywed Moments, She's awesome and I love her blog! So I figured I would share the tips on here as well. I'm also a newlywed, married to Dallin (D), and love every minute of it. While I realize we still have a lot to learn, here are a few things we have found that work for us. Of course I feel there is more advice/tips out there, but these were more on the fun side!
We definitely LOVE dancing and being goofy with each other. So that's just a little side tip, dancing is always great! Good thing D's brother caught this photo from our first dance.

We started getting advice from others the moment we got engaged. What I've heard the most of is "communicate with each other". Well duh, of course..I'm not going to ignore my husband! Ok, yes I know what they mean, talk to each other and let each other know what is going on. D and I do communicate, all of the time, but my advice is to change it up a bit. Talk in accents to each other! Make it fun and if it seems things are a little tense then it definitely lightens up the mood. Being goofy with each other is one of our favorite things to do.

Another piece of advice I would give is to always make your spouse comes first in your life. I know that seems a little cliche, but it really is the best thing to do to make your marriage succeed. Guys, this means that you might have to watch Pretty Little Liars instead of the big game, and girls, this means you have to try and at least look interested when he is telling you about the soccer game he just watched. It's hard sometimes, especially when you are newlywed, because you are used to living on your own and only taking care of yourself, but putting your spouse first in your life makes for a happy marriage.

It's all about surprises! D and I have found that one of the most fun things about being married is trying to see who can surprise the other one the most (I am currently winning...). For example, sometimes I will come home from work and D has washed all the dishes, or cleaned the living room. D's birthday was on Dec. 7th and I really surprised him! Another time, when we were dating long distance, I flew out to Idaho to visit and he didn't know I was there until he saw me sitting at Dairy Queen with his family. Surprises show how much you love your spouse and that you want to keep showing them that love as often as you can.

So those are just a few things that I love in our marriage that are just a little FUN!
