Summer is all about being outside. Soaking in the sun, playing in the water, and eating delicious food. Speaking of all of those! This past weekend we celebrated Summer with the family by having a little backyard bashWe headed to Walmart for a quick and easy pick up of everything we needed. Some Cheez-Its to snack on while waiting for the burgers and some Dr Pepper to throw into our Coleman cooler to keep ice cold. Being able to grab everything in one trip is so nice and convenient.

I want to share some of my DIY decorations for the table. I love the appearance of a party table. It can bring the whole party together!

#1-Balloons-My first piece of decor is the balloons. Sure, balloons are at parties all of the time. I added a little extra by having them tied to random bottles. It adds a little something different to the table rather than tying them to a chair.

#2-Banner-If you have some string and paper laying around, this is very simple to do. I cut out triangle pieces and wrote the word Summer and then hung it on the front of the table.

#3-Platter- I made my own platter for the table. It was very easy and added a little extra for the way the food was presented. You can find a flat platter and a martini glass at the dollar store and then hot glue them together. It made a great tray for the hamburger buns.

#4-Flowers-At Walmart they have a variety of fake flowers. I bought a few of the sunflowers and took the stems off. I think the sunflowers look so cute spread around the table!

We had such a great day spending time together as a family. We will definitely be getting in some more backyard parties while we can!

DIY-Halloween Window Silhouettes

Here is my first Halloween craft of the season! I have more to share, but I will do a different post :) Halloween is my favorite holiday, next to Christmas!

This craft is so inexpensive and it is so fun! It will make you the talk of the street!

So this is my window that I finished last night and I'm absolutely in love with it! I love how it turned out. If only that pole wasn't in the way!

What you will need:

-Black paper (3.99)
-Orange tissue paper (1.97)
-Tape
-Scissors
-White crayon

1. I measured my window to make sure I wasn't making the cut outs too small or too big.

2. I taped pieces of black paper together and then I drew out what I wanted with a white crayon. I didn't use stencils, but I'm sure there are some awesome things that can be traced!

3. Once I cut everything, I pieced it back together and taped it.

4. Then tape it on the window where you want.

5. Tape the tissue behind it!

There you have it!

DIY-Special Day Plate

It's been a long time since I've posted a DIY project. While my mom was here we went to a shop called Color Me Mine. A cute store where you pick out your pottery then they provide everything you would need to paint it. Our project was to make "special day plates". So basically you have a plate and when someone has a special day in the family, such as, a birthday, made a good grade on a test, or got a new job then that person gets to eat on that plate for the day! The "special days" are endless.

Kids will love this as well! I really loved making this. I wanted mine to be festive and bright. My awesome Aunt Sue also joined us and made one as well!

My plate!

I love my mom's polka dots and I love how my aunt's is beachy!
