RED, WHITE, and BLUE Drinks!

One of my favorite holidays is 4th of July! I love waking up and making a big breakfast, then heading out to watch the parade. After the parade I want to stay outside and be in water! In the afternoon it's necessary to have a cook out with lots of good food and fun drinks! I want to share some patriotic drinks that we have made before that are perfect for the 4th of July as well as the heat!

Kool-Aid has always been a great fruit drink to buy for making all sorts of drinks. There is such a huge variety of flavors and colors, so you can make just about anything! What is even more convenient is their new 96 oz bottle that made my 4th of July drinks so easy to make! Found right in the juice aisle at Walmart with their three flavors, as well as their other Kool-Aid items.

1. One thing you can do is make Kool-Aid ice cubes! I poured my red and blue Kool-Aid into a stars tray, then put them into a clear soda. It adds a fun flavor as well as making the look of the drink very patriotic.

2. The second idea is making a layered red, white, and blue drink! Some people use a clear diet soda in the middle, but I used my ice as the white. First I poured my red Kool-Aid in then filled the glass with ice. Then I finished up by pouring a blue sports drink on top. You can put more red if you would like and if you want more white, pour a clear soda in after the Kool-Aid. This definitely makes for a fun drink for a 4th of July cookout.

3. A blue slushie! Who doesn't love a slushie?! This can be any color you would like, so a red would also be a good one. For the ingredients:

-1 packet of Kool-Aid

-1/2 cup sugar

-2 cups water

-lots of ice

Put all of the ingredients into a blender and combine. Add more ice if necessary. 

This drink is great, especially for younger children and it makes for a nice dessert as well.
