So the chili I was talking about in my previous post..I would like to share the recipe. Which may be hard, given the fact that well..we didn't use a recipe. But I will try! We had a chili cook-off at church and I wanted to bring something, but I have never made chili before and this was a contest. I wanted to impress others and myself. Like I mentioned in the previous post..I wanted to come up with something different and delicious. This is what was put together! Again, this is just an estimate of what I put so it may be a give and take of ingredients. This all goes in a crock pot! Now for the good news...this chili actually won best tasting out of fifteen other chili's. Super proud of it and definitely did not expect it! This chili's name is Sweet Caroline"A". I thought it was pretty creative ;)
Ingredients
-2 lbs of meat
-4 (14.5 oz) cans stewed tomatoes
-1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
-2 cans kidney beans (1 drained)
-1 can black beans (drained)
-1 can sweet corn (drained)
-2 white onions, chopped
-4 cloves garlic, minced
-1 pack chili seasoning (I used McCormick)
-4 tbsn chili powder
-3 tspn oregano
-3 tspn salt
-1 tspn cinnamon
-Pepper to taste
1. Brown meat and mix in onions and garlic and heat for about 5 mins
2.Put in crock pot and add everything except the beans and corn and cook on high for 1 hour
3. Mix in EVERYTHING else and cook on high for 30 mins and then turn to low
4. Taste and season accordingly. That's where I'm unsure with the measurements,
but they should be pretty close. If I thought it was too sweet I added more
chili powder, salt, and pepper. Then again it's suppose to be a semi-sweet chili.
5. Eat up and enjoy!!!!
I forgot to take pictures of it while I was making it so here are the after pictures.
Proof that it was that good!
P.S.-Thanks to Dallin for browning the meat and chopping up the onions.
