My Jacket that is Jean

It took a couple of jean jackets in my closet to realize that I actually like wearing jean jackets. I've never really been into them. I would buy one thinking I would wear it and it would stay in my closet, price tag on, and never touched. Not really sure why, but to me they were almost too "mom-ish". Probably doesn't make sense, but point is...I love my jean jacket now! I like to wear it just over an old t-shirt or in this outfit, make it seem a little more casual.

RED

Red is such a powerful color. With its fierceness and its energy! It's a bold color that can show confidence in a woman and also show compassion and love. 

I decided to wear my red pants paired with a jean button-up. Anything red is sure to pop! Then to bring out some red on top I wore a scarf with bits of red in it.

YELLOW

Continuing my rant about pops of color and how infectious they are...YELLOW is another one 

of my favorites. Yellow is a color that is full of joy and has the capability to just make you happy!

 I mean what's not to love about it? It's bright, it's easy to spot, and it just has this energizing 

feel to it. When adding pops of color, I like to keep the rest of my outfit mostly neutral; that 

way the pops of color really have a chance to shine. In this case, shine as bright as the sun!

Now it’s your time to shine! 

Thanks to crystal-cure.com, they suggest that you “put some yellow in your life when you want”:
1) clarity for decision-making
2) relief from 'burnout', panic, nervousness, exhaustion

GREEN

In my opinion, green can transform any outfit into something truly spectacular. It's one of my favorite accent colors. These socks are super comfy, and perfect for wintertime. I love to pair them with my favorite pair of boots, and leave them peeking out the top of the boots. Literally, it's such a simple concept, yet it adds so much to an outfit. Burgundy is a staple in my closet this season (see jacket AND socks). I decided to pair the jacket with the outfit because it just complimented the socks so well. When paired with the burgundy jacket, the color in socks pop out even more. Having pops of colors effortlessly makes an outfit look more put together.

Pie! Pie! Pie!

What a good Thanksgiving we had. Well it has actually been a good week. Full of food (literally), family, sleepovers, food, movies, games, and food. We were only at our apartment to sleep, other than that we were out and about doing festive things! Here's a little recap to our Thanksgiving.

 The morning of Thanksgiving we got up in time to watch the Macy's Day Parade. I love watching it every year! D's sister Kiersten stayed the night with us and it was just nice to have a guest with us. While we were watching the parade we (Kiersten mostly) made a delicious buttermilk blueberry cake. Yum! Got the unhealthy eating started early. It wasn't too sweet or too heavy on the stomach so it allowed us to contain our appetite for the main course of the day.



This is an unfortunate picture with an unfortunate story. I was in charge of making a couple pies for our Thanksgiving gathering. I decided to make key lime pie. Recipe here. And I also decided to make a homemade chocolate pie. Yum! As I was putting it into the refrigerator to cool, my hand changed position which made the pie turn completely over and splat on the ground! I was devastated. As you recall, Kiersten was there so I tried so hard to stay calm about it. I wanted to burst out into tears and I was basically just freaking out on the inside and wondering what in the world am I going to do. Quickly came up with a pumpkin pie recipe and eventually everything was ok!

Friday we went to the girls BYU vs UNC soccer game. Usually I would have cheered on BYU, but come on it was North Carolina, I had to cheer them on. It was a pretty intense game, but North Carolina is just that good and they came out with the win. I was really excited, D was a little disappointed for he was going for BYU. I did stand out; there were not too many Carolina fans in the crowd,
but I held strong as I cheered on NC.

Saturday night we went to the BYU game. Another intense game. A lot of fun!

We did so much with his family this weekend. So many things to be grateful for in this life.

Guest Blog-Chelsea Gloria

                                              My Favorite Fall/Winter Looks

            When Jessica asked me to be a guest blogger (Thank you, Jess!) I’m not going to lie, I panicked. I was drawing blanks. It was like all of a sudden every idea I had ever had evaporated into thin air. I had no clue what I wanted to write about! As I was packing my clothes to come home for Fall break, I couldn’t help but notice all the clothes I have acquired over the past couple of months. [UNNECESSARY SIDEBAR] Listen, I hoard clothes. Now, I’m by no means a candidate for the addicting, yet gut-wrenching show “Hoarders” because unlike the people on that show, I hoard in a very neatly, orderly fashion. [END UNNECESSARY SIDEBAR] 

Anyways, as I was packing I decided that I wanted to share with everyone the top things I have gravitated towards this Fall/Winter season.                                                           

       
           It’s a known fact that trends come and go, so that’s why I believe in building your own personal style to withstand time and the trends that breeze on by. However, trends inspire me constantly. I always like to twist pops of trend into my own personal style. I don’t like to over indulge myself with a trend because before you even actually get to the store to try the trend, BAM, it’s out the window and something else is in..once again. That’s not to say I haven’t rocked the “out of trend” designs before...I do all the time! There is no shame in that whatsoever! As long as you make it your own by putting your own personal twist on it, I’m sure you can bring back any trend from any era.

            Fall/Winter is hands down my favorite time of year. It’s the time of year where Starbucks calls my name, and the crisp air beckons me outside. Everything about Fall/Winter is just appealing to me. Especially, THE FASHION. I mean, hello?! Who doesn’t want to curl up in a cozy knit by the fire? I know I do. I’m sure I’m not alone on this one.

So with no further rambling, here is my list of favorite things this holiday season!

Oxblood

            You cannot go wrong with Oxblood. This is hands down my favorite color of all time. I swear, it goes with anything. I have Oxblood shoes, shirts, nail-polish, pants, eye shadow  tights and my favorite..lipstick. One swipe of a deep Oxblood color across your lips and your ready for the holiday season.

“Candy Collar”

            I used to be so anti-collar, things have changed. I think collars can transform any outfit in an instance, especially decorated collars with jewels, designs, or STUDS. Studs can take a feminine outfit and toughen it up instantly. Believe in the power of studs.

           

Lace-up Boots

            I’m 5’10’’ so I tend to shy away from heels, therefore I always have on pair of these. Literally, I wear them with everything. They have the ability not to clash with anything. I really like the look they add to outfits. You can easily grunge these up, or give them a cool, “antique-y” feel.

Denim

            Denim needs to be everywhere. My favorite combo is denim and leather. I tend to go for almost an androgynous look with denim. I absolutely adore the androgynous look.

They provide warmth and comfort.

Cozy Knits

            I live for over-sized, cozy knits. Gap seriously has some of the best to choose from. I always get them a size larger just because I think they hang better when they are a bigger size. Recently I paired my sweater with my leather skinny pants, and have been repeating that outfit ever since!

   Leather        

                ...pants. Some of you are probably thinking, leather pants? What are we bikers?! I’m here to tell you that leather skinny pants or leggings looks amazing with most anything. Just think of them like am edgy pair of black skinny jeans! Also leather shorts, paired with tights are just as cute. And a dash of leather detailing on a blouse in an unexpected way will win me over any day.

Welcome to this week's honorable mentions!

(again...just some things I found interesting or what I really liked this past week)

Game nights are so much fun! I feel like I could play card games every night. It's nice to have a night for some quality time together, just to chat and be silly. This little game is called Monopoly Deal. One of my favorites. We were searching for this game for quite awhile. We searched in several Wal-Marts and Targets, but they only had the "upscale" version of this game. Very disappointing. Ended up finding it on eBay and ordered it on there. The package came in this past week and it made my day!

Sometimes its fun to drink out of fancy glasses just for the heck of it!! 

It adds a little something to the meal. If you get take out, just put it onto your own plate and drink out of a wine glass and then you've got yourself a 5 star meal in the comfort of your own home :)

Who doesn't like getting some cupcakes?! Made strawberry cupcakes with a cream cheese icing to deliver to some people. Yum! I thought this e-card was funny, but who am I kidding??
I ate probably half a dozen ;)

I have such a cute niece. And boy does she love her ice cream. So do I! We went to get some and I asked if I could have a bite of hers. She gave me this "are you kidding?!?!" stare. Haha. No one can get in between this girl and her ice cream. Its okay though, I was very understanding...

 I don't like to share either!

Back Left-MAC's Woodwinked, Back Right-MAC's Quite Natural Paint Pot, Bottom-MACS's Espresso

I'm really digging the browns right now for my eyes. Especially these three together. I've been putting the paint pot on my lid and kind of pushing it into the crease of my eye. Then using the espresso for the crease and the woodwinked for the lid over the paint pot. The woodwinked gives it that shimmer that is perfect for the holidays! I'm sure there could be a lot more done with these, but as of right now this has been my favorite.
